Zelenskyy: Trump positive on licensed missile production

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says US President Donald Trump is "positive" about the licensed production of Patriot interceptor missiles in Ukraine to beef up its air defense.

Zelenskyy spoke to reporters after holding talks with Trump in New York on Tuesday.

The Ukrainian leader said the licensed production of these missiles was the main topic of the meeting, and that he asked Trump to help Ukraine move quicker on the issue.

Zelenskyy said, "He is positive with licenses," and added, "We will start this project."

But Zelenskyy noted that he does not know whether it will take one year or longer to do so.

Zelenskyy also revealed they discussed an energy ceasefire. He expressed readiness to agree to such a truce if Russia halts attacks on Ukrainian energy facilities.

Zelenskyy also said he is ready to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin if Trump were to organize a trilateral meeting so that the leaders can "try to end the war."
