Chinese President Xi Jinping and other Party and state leaders paid tribute to the fallen heroes and presented flower baskets at the Monument to the People's Heroes in Tiananmen Square, Beijing, on Wednesday morning.
China marks Martyrs' Day on September 30. This year also commemorates the 77th founding anniversary of the People's Republic of China and the 105th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of China. It also marks the 90th anniversary of the victory of the Long March, which lasted from 1934 to 1936.
