WSP Global withdraws offer to acquire Dutch engineering firm Arcadis - Toronto Star

WSP Global Inc. says it is withdrawing its proposed offer to acquire Dutch engineering firm Arcadis NV.     

The Montreal-based firm says it was unable to engage Arcadis regarding the terms of a potential transaction, though it remains convinced the deal would benefit stakeholders.        

Alexandre L’Heureux, WSP CEO, says in a press release that meaningful engagement is needed for advancing a transaction. 

The change comes after WSP announced in August it would continue its pursuit of Arcadis, despite the rejection of previous offers. 

In July, WSP made an offer of 51.50 euros per share for Arcadis, up from an earlier bid of 48.50 euros per share that Arcadis rejected.

At the time, Arcadis said the improved offer continued to undervalue the company and was not in the best interest of its shareholders, employees, clients and other stakeholders.
