Woman kills husband after he finds out about her affair, caught after 2 months
Thane police have arrested a 29-year-old woman who had been absconding in connection with the murder of her husband in Nagpur around one-and-a-half months ago, officials said on Sunday.
The accused, identified as Deepali alias Bali Vijay Salunke, was held in Thane on Saturday and later handed over to Nagpur Police.
Police said the case stems from marital discord after Gaurav Ragde, a 27-year-old autorickshaw driver from Ajni in Nagpur, came to know about Deepali's alleged relationship with Rishikesh Khode.
Deepali and Ragde had entered into an inter-caste love marriage about eight months before the incident in August, but she later left his home and started living separately, according to police.
On the afternoon of August 20, Ragde told his father that he was going to Narendra Nagar in Nagpur to settle the dispute with Deepali and Khode. Police said Khode was drinking with two associates at the time.
At around 5 pm, a heated argument broke out between Ragde and the group. According to Ragde's father, Khode and his associates allegedly attacked him with a knife at Deepali's instigation near a drain bridge. Ragde suffered serious injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead, police said.
After the incident, Deepali, a resident of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Road in Thane, went into hiding.
Senior police inspector Sailesh Salvi of the Thane Crime Branch Anti-Extortion Cell said she confessed to her role in the crime during questioning. He said she has been handed over to Beltarodi police in Nagpur, adding that Thane police do not have any information about the other accused.
The arrest in Thane marks a key development in the Nagpur murder case, in which police have alleged that a dispute linked to Deepali's relationship with Khode led to the killing of her husband, Gaurav Ragde.- Ends
