Wife, lover kill husband in sleep, take body in box 20 km by e-rickshaw, dump it
A man was allegedly stabbed to death while he was asleep in Lucknow after his second wife conspired with her lover and his associates to eliminate him, police said. The body was then allegedly hidden inside a wooden box, taken away in an e-rickshaw loader the following night and dumped under a canal culvert in the Mohanlalganj area.
Police have arrested the woman, her lover and three others in connection with the murder. A 16-year-old minor, the woman’s son, has also been taken into protective custody.
The deceased, Ramkishore Valmiki, was allegedly killed on the intervening night of September 14 and 15. According to police, his second wife, Sufiya Bano, had left the door latch open and let her lover Munna alias Muchhad and his associate Mohammed Iqbal into the house.
The two allegedly attacked Ramkishore with a knife while he was sleeping, stabbing him repeatedly. After the murder, the accused allegedly cleaned the bloodstains by plastering over the floor.
Sufiya then allegedly took the help of her 16-year-old son to place Ramkishore’s body inside a wooden box and hide it under the bed. The following night, the accused allegedly loaded the body onto an e-rickshaw loader and dumped it under the Bhavakheda canal culvert in Mohanlalganj.
Police said the alleged murder stemmed from an illicit relationship. Ramkishore had been in a relationship with Sufiya for four years, and the two married around two years ago. Sufiya later became involved with 52-year-old Munna alias Muchhad.
When Ramkishore allegedly learnt about the relationship, frequent disputes began at home. As the situation escalated, he started returning to his first wife, Kavita Devi, and giving her money for household expenses, which allegedly angered Sufiya.
Police said Sufiya then conspired with Munna and Mohammed Iqbal to eliminate Ramkishore.
The case came to light after Kavita filed a complaint at the Mohanlalganj police station on September 17. Police registered a case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and began investigating the murder.
Acting on information provided by the accused, police recovered the knife allegedly used in the murder, a bloodstained broom, Ramkishore’s clothes and the e-rickshaw allegedly used to dispose of his body.- EndsInputs from Ankit MishraPublished By: Published On: Sep 18, 2026 18:01 IST
