Nollywood actress, Toyin Abraham, has explained that she rejected her reported inclusion in the Lagos State All Progressives Congress Campaign Council because she was listed without her knowledge and has no interest in politics. Abraham made this known in a post on X on Friday while responding to a user who suggested that her decision could stop the “bullies” from attacking her. The user, Foundational Nupe Lawyer, had written, “I hope this stops the bullies from bullying her, but I know for sure, they will never stop.” Reacting, Abraham said her decision was not influenced by online criticism. “Bro, I didn’t do it because of any bully. I did it because it was the right thing to do. I woke up and saw my name on a list I knew absolutely nothing about. “Moreover, I’ve already said it—I’m not interested in politics. Lawyer Nupe I love u and thanks for love and support,” she wrote. PUNCH had reported earlier on Friday that Abraham distanced herself from the Lagos APC campaign council after her name appeared among members of the Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate. The actress said she was not a member of any campaign council and asked the public to disregard her reported inclusion. I have said it recently. I am staying out of politics. Please disregard the supposed inclusion of my name in any campaign committee,” she had said. Her name was listed alongside other entertainers, including Jide Kosoko, Eniola Badmus, Bimbo Akintola, Adebayo Salami, Saheed Balogun and Bukky Wright. The development comes three years after Abraham publicly supported President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election, a decision that attracted criticism and attacks against her on social media. The Lagos APC campaign council lists Toke Benson-Awoyinka as Director of the Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate, with Kosoko as Co-Director and Badmus as Deputy Director. Abraham remains listed as a member of the 33-person directorate in the published council document despite her rejection of the reported appointment.
