The story so far: The Gujarat High Court on Friday (October 30) stayed a single judge’s order striking down a State government notification banning the sale of non-vegetarian food in the vicinity of the Somnath temple. The Division Bench’s intervention came hours after Justice Nisha Thakore had quashed the notification issued by the Gir Somnath District Collector.
A Division Bench of Chief Justice Manash Ranjan Pathak and Justice Nirzar Desai stayed Justice Thakore’s judgment following an urgent appeal by the Gujarat government. It directed that the Collector’s notification would remain in force until further orders.
