Actor Vijay Varma's latest fashion outing at a Mumbai event has turned into an online roast, with a social media user summing up the mood with the remark, "Crime master Gogo". Paparazzi videos of the actor in an elaborate all-black look soon spread across social media, drawing a wave of jokes, comparisons and criticism.

The actor, who is no stranger to experimental styling, did not go for a conventional black outfit. Instead, he wore a look built around cut-outs, contrasting textures and long strips of fabric. As the clips began doing the rounds online, the outfit itself became the main talking point.

Vijay wore a fitted black top featuring an intricate criss-cross lattice pattern. The geometric design created several sheer, skin-baring sections across the outfit. Long, narrow strips of black fabric extended from the sleeves and lower portions of the top, adding movement as he posed for photographers.Credit: Yogen Shah

He paired the statement top with high-waisted black leather trousers. Their smooth, slightly glossy finish contrasted with the open-weave texture of the upper half, while keeping the look within a monochrome palette. Vijay kept accessories to a minimum and completed the appearance with oversized black sunglasses. His neatly styled hair and clean grooming kept the rest of the look comparatively understated.

Once videos from the Mumbai event surfaced online, social media users quickly began reacting to the outfit. An X user wrote, " Ever since Vijay Varma and Tamannaah Bhatia parted ways, Vijay has been spotted with a completely different vibe. Bro really said β€œpost-breakup era” and chose chaos. Not sure what’s going on, but this look definitely has everyone talking!"

A second X user wrote, "Who is Vijay Varma’s fashion designer? What is this bro?"

Another user wrote, "Ranveer Singh: I am going to wear Normal Clothes now. Vijay Varma: Hold my Tamannah," adding to the stream of comments around the actor's appearance.

The attention around Vijay's look comes at a time when he has also been in the news for speaking about his work choices. While discussing Lust Stories 3 in an interview with India Today, he recently said the anthology arrived as a relief after spending around eight months immersed in Matka King. He also spoke about his effort to keep finding something new within himself as an actor.

Lust Stories 3, which is currently streaming on Netflix, stars Vijay alongside Radhika Apte, Konkona Sen Sharma, Aditi Rao Hydari, Radhika Madan, Siddharth, Ali Fazal, Abhishek Banerjee and others. Matka King, on the other hand, is streaming on Prime Video.- EndsALSO READ | Vijay Varma's sharp response to Dolly Singh calling him 'red flag' in viral video from event
