US vets take on bizarre rescue mission after snake manages to swallow 3 golf balls

A snake in the US gave vets quite the unusual case after somehow swallowing not one, not two, but three golf balls, only for the veterinary team to carefully push them back out without having to perform surgery.

South Texas Avian and Exotic Hospital in San Antonio shared a video of the unusual case on Instagram, showing its veterinary team treating the snake after it arrived with the golf balls lodged inside its body.

In the video, the heavily sedated snake was gently handled by the vets as they slowly manipulated the golf balls through its body, pushing them towards its mouth one by one. As each ball reached its mouth, the snake opened up, allowing the vets to carefully grab and remove it.

The team then zoomed in on the snake's body, where two more golf balls could still be seen lodged inside, revealing just how much the reptile had managed to swallow.

Thankfully, the bizarre encounter did not require surgery. The hospital said the veterinary team was able to manually manipulate and safely remove all three golf balls while the snake was under heavy sedation.

“This was definitely a memorable case!” the hospital wrote, adding that exotic animal medicine can bring some very unexpected patients through the door.

The video left viewers wondering how the snake could have mistaken golf balls for something edible. Some joked that it may have thought the balls were eggs, while others simply felt sorry for the snake and hoped it was doing well after the ordeal.- Ends
