New visa restrictions by the United States (US) targeting South Africa have been both welcomed and condemned by different political parties and civil society organisations.

While Afrikaner advocacy group Lex Libertas and the Freedom Front (FF) Plus have welcomed the new visa restriction policy announced by Secretary of State Marc Rubio, opposition parties like the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party and Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) have condemned the decision.
Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Ronald Lamola has also reacted, saying he noted the "unilateral" decision with concern.
