UP man came to meet his married lover. Hours later, he was found hanging

A man who had travelled to Kanpur to meet his married girlfriend was found hanging inside her room shortly after her brother-in-law caught the two together, triggering a murder case filed by the man's family against the woman and her relatives.

The victim, identified as Shiv Pratap Singh, worked as the driver of Arun Singh, a BJP leader and chairman of the District Cooperative Bank in Unnao.

He had befriended the woman on Facebook around a year ago, and the two subsequently entered into a relationship.

The woman's husband is a revenue inspector, while her father is a police sub-inspector.

According to information, Shiv Pratap visited his girlfriend's house on Tuesday night to meet her. However, her brother-in-law caught the two together inside a room and locked Shiv Pratap in it.

Shortly afterwards, he was found hanging from a noose inside the room.

The woman reportedly told the police that her brother-in-law had locked her in the room, after which Shiv Pratap hanged himself.

However, his family has rejected the suicide claim and accused the woman and her relatives of murdering him before hanging his body to make it look like suicide.

They also claimed that the woman had called him to meet her.

Following the incident, the police informed Shiv Pratap's family, who travelled to Kanpur and lodged a complaint. Based on their allegations, a murder case has been registered against the woman, her brother-in-law, father-in-law and sisters-in-law.

A senior police officer has confirmed that the woman and her brother-in-law had been brought to the police station for questioning.- Ends
