An under-construction roof of an auditorium at an aided school in Keralam collapsed on Saturday (November 7, 2026). However, no one was injured, officials said.
The incident occurred around noon at PKS Higher Secondary School, Kanjiramkulam, near Neyyattinkara, Education department officials said.
The auditorium had a tin-sheet roof, and work was underway to replace it with a concrete structure.
The roofing work was carried out on Friday, but heavy rain later affected the structure, officials said.
The entire concrete roof structure, including the steel bars and supporting poles, collapsed, they said.
As it was not a working day, there were no students on the premises.
The workers present at the site managed to move to safety after noticing the roof collapsing, officials said.
Work has begun to clear the debris, and Public Works Department officials will examine whether any defects in the construction work led to the collapse, officials added.
