UFC provides medical update on Raoni Barcelos following scary knockout - MMA Junkie

UFC has provided an update on Raoni Barcelos following a scary scene.

In the main event of UFC Fight Night 289, Barcelos was knocked out in an unconventional manner during a takedown by Raul Rosas Jr. The moment came in the fifth round of a very hard-fought battle.

Rosas Jr. (13-1 MMA, 7-1 UFC) clinched up and hit a trip takedown on Barcelos (22-6 MMA, 11-5 UFC), who went unconscious as they hit the canvas. Rosas Jr. noticed his opponent was out, refrained from throwing any more punches, and began his celebration. Meanwhile, Barcelos remained on the canvas, and medical officials entered the octagon to assess his condition. He was quickly stretchered out of the octagon at the Meta APEX in Las Vegas and taken to a nearby hospital.

Davi Ramos, a UFC veteran and a member of Barcelos' team, confirmed on social media that his teammate regained consciousness and was speaking at the hospital.

"Following his fight tonight, Raoni Barcelos was immediately transported to a Level 1 trauma center for evaluation. The hospital medical team conducted a CT scan and comprehensive assessment, and he is currently being monitored. Barcelos is stable, alert and responsive, with full movement. He will remain under medical supervision. We will provide updates on his condition as they become available."
