UFC 331 medical suspensions: Alonzo Menifield's mangled thumb leads to 6-month term - MMA Junkie

It'll be a while before Alonzo Menifield returns to the cage.

Menifield overcame an oddly gruesome injury this past Saturday as he powered through an apparent fractured thumb to earn a hard-fought split decision win over Iwo Baraniewski at UFC 331 from Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. As a result of his mangled thumb, which he showed off to the cameras after the win, Menifield has received a 180-day suspension from the California State Athletic Commission.

Menifield was among five fighters to receive six-month terms, according to the CSAC's list obtained Monday by MMA Junkie. The others were Robelis Despaigne (fractured thumb), Edmen Shahbazyan (fractured foot), Casey O'Neill (fractured knee), and Joanderson Brito (fractured knee).
