Ucheibe earns Goal of the Week nomination
Super Falcons midfielder Christy Ucheibe has earned further recognition for her impressive start at Al-Hilal after her first goal for the Saudi club was nominated for the Saudi Women’s Premier League Goal of the Week award, PUNCH Sports Extra reports. Ucheibe made an immediate impact in her third consecutive league appearance for Al-Hilal, scoring the opening goal in their 6-0 thrashing of Al-Taraji. The Nigerian headed home in the early stages of the encounter to set Al-Hilal on their way to a commanding victory. The goal was Ucheibe’s first since joining the Saudi side and capped an impressive start to her career in the league, with the midfielder quickly establishing herself in the starting line-up. Her strike has now been shortlisted alongside other contenders for the Goal of the Week award, giving the Super Falcons star another recognition just weeks into her new chapter in Saudi Arabia. Before moving to Portugal, Ucheibe played for Swedish club Assi IF and Nigerian side Nasarawa Amazons. Her versatility has also seen her operate as both a midfielder and centre-back. At international level, Ucheibe made her Super Falcons debut in 2022 and has earned 32 caps, scoring three goals. She was also part of the Nigeria squad that won the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
