Rampal’s two units have hit their highest output yet, generating a combined 1,321MW and feeding it straight into the national grid.

Both units have been running at full load for several days, Anwarul Azim, general manager of the plant’s Human Resources Division, told bdnews24.com on Saturday.

“The two units are being operated at full capacity. Generation has been at its highest level since after 3pm [on Saturday]. It is still running this way.”

Authorities said the first unit is supplying 656MW and the second 665MW.

The Bangladesh-India joint investment project was initiated in 2010. BIFPCL and BPDB signed a power purchase agreement in 2013, when land acquisition, filling and road construction began.

The first unit started commercial generation on Dec 23, 2022.
