Two drunken men assault police personnel in Doddaballapur

Two police personnel attached to the 112 emergency response team were allegedly assaulted by two intoxicated men, at Palanajogihalli in Doddaballapur of Bengaluru Rural district on Sunday.

The incident occurred when the personnel, identified as Manikantha and Rayappa Poojari, were on night patrol duty. The police received an alert through the 112 emergency helpline about two men fighting in the area.

The officers reached the spot and found Harahan Sarihan and Basir Gidda allegedly quarrelling with each other. Both were reportedly under the influence of alcohol.

When the personnel intervened to pacify them, the duo allegedly became aggressive and turned on the officers. The accused allegedly assaulted Manikantha and Poojari, injuring them on their chest, hands and legs.

The injured personnel were taken to Doddaballapur Government Hospital.

The Doddaballapur Rural police took both accused into custody. The police have launched further probe.
