Trump faces tough 2 years – and the world will feel the consequences - EWN
Donald Trump's mid-term election defeat could have consequences extending well beyond the United States, with the president potentially turning his attention to foreign affairs as he faces growing political opposition at home.
World news correspondent Adam Gilchrist told 702 that the scale of the Republican losses has created a more challenging political environment for Trump, with opposition to the president evident in both houses of Congress.
The result could also prompt calls for a change in approach from within Trump's own political circle, including Vice President JD Vance, who has been distancing himself from the president over the Iran war.
Gilchrist says Vance has directly blamed the conflict for the Republicans' poor performance, using language that is increasingly at odds with Trump's approach.
