Tropical Storm Surigae remains outside PAR, no direct effect on weather - GMA Network

Tropical Storm Surigae, which remains outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), will not directly affect the weather condition of the country in the next three days, according to PAGASA's 11 p.m. Tropical Cyclone Advisory.

The center of Tropical Storm Surigae, as of 10 p.m., is at 1,645 km east of Northern Luzon outside PAR, packing maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers near the center, gustiness of up to 80 km/h, and central pressure of 998 hPa.

At present, Surigae is moving west northwestward at the speed of 20 km/h with strong to gale-force winds extend outwards up to 300 km from the center.

"Tropical Storm SURIGAE is forecast to enter the PAR by Thursday morning and will be given the local name Queenie, PAGASA said.

It will then continue to move west northwestward until Friday September 25, 2026 before turning northwestward by Saturday, September 26 then northward by Monday, September 28.

"This tropical cyclone is forecast to maintain its strength until tomorrow and will gradually intensify while inside the PAR," the state weather bureau said, adding that it may reach typhoon category by Sunday September 27, 2026.

"Surigae is not expected to directly affect the weather condition in the next 3 days. Meanwhile, moderate seas will prevail over the eastern seaboard of Northern Luzon beginning Saturday," the agency said. — BAP, GMA News
