Three wanted in Telangana drug cases tracked down in Rajasthan

Three men wanted in separate narcotics cases in Telangana have been tracked down in Rajasthan and brought back to the State in a joint operation by the anti-narcotics forces of the two states.

The EAGLE Force of Telangana, coordinated with the Rajasthan Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) to apprehend Jaykishan, 28, Suresh, 30, and Dinesh Kumar.

The operation followed intelligence shared under a cooperation mechanism between the two forces. A team of eight personnel drawn from EAGLE Force, Hyderabad City Police and Cyberabad Police subsequently travelled to Rajasthan to take the trio into custody.

The journey itself took around 24 hours, with four drivers deployed for the long-distance operation, said director of EAGLE, Sandeep Shandilya.

“Investigations into drug cases in Telangana had increasingly pointed towards alleged suppliers operating from Rajasthan, particularly in cases involving opium, heroin and MDMA,” said the officer.

Jaykishan, a resident of Rajasthan, was wanted in two cases registered at Meerpet and Petbasheerabad police stations. The Meerpet case involved the seizure of 15 sachets of heroin, while the Petbasheerabad case involved MDMA.

Suresh, 30, of Pali in Rajasthan, was wanted in an NDPS case registered at Raidurgam police station. The case involved heroin seizures, besides three cars and seven mobile phones. Records also showed his alleged involvement in a separate case registered in Rajasthan.

Dinesh Kumar, a resident of Jalore, was wanted by the Hyderabad Narcotics Police Station in a case involving the seizure of 3.259 kg of opium, two cars and four mobile phones. Investigators had identified him as a suspected key supplier in the case.

The arrests came after previous attempts by Telangana police teams to trace the accused in Rajasthan ran into difficulties. During one attempt, personnel reportedly encountered resistance involving live electric wires, while another team was allegedly confronted by a large group of villagers.

On another occasion, a Telangana police team camped in Rajasthan for around six days but returned without apprehending the wanted men.

“However, renewed intelligence and coordination with the Rajasthan ANTF eventually led to the three being traced and apprehended. A technically sound personnel played a key role in establishing and confirming the identities of the wanted men before they were taken into custody. The three have been shifted to Telangana for further legal proceedings,” concluded the officer.
