No one, not even Jimmy Kimmel, has had much luck getting a chuckle out of Laughing Cow.

No one, not even Jimmy Kimmel, has had much luck getting a chuckle out of Laughing Cow.

A week after Bel Us, part of the Bel Group, revealed that the Laughing Cow mysteriously stopped laughing, the famed mascot stopped by "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" to offer some clarity, mostly indirectly.

Shortly after longtime sidekick Guillermo Rodriguez broke the news to Kimmel about the Laughing Cow's change in attitude, the pair began to bicker, throwing jabs at each other, until they noticed that the Laughing Cow was growing increasingly uncomfortable.

"Maybe the reason the Laughing Cow isn't laughing anymore is because these days everybody keeps fighting over little things," Kimmel says in the video, as he moves to grab a wooden platter filled with Laughing Cow-brand cheese wedges. "You know what, let's take a breath, let's share a little wedge of cheese and calm down."

Kimmel attempted to lighten the mood by carving a smile onto the Laughing Cow head he had been trimming before Rodriguez burst into the studio to share the news, joking: "Now we have a laughing cow." Neither Rodriguez nor the Laughing Cow found that very funny.

As of Sept. 22, all packaging featuring the cherry-red cow flashing a toothy grin has been replaced with a more stoic-looking cow β€” a change the brand of processed cheese products says can be reversed if you can find a way to make the Laughing Cow laugh.

"She's still not laughing. Bring her laugh back at TheNotLaughingCow.com," a narrator says at the end of the clip.

According to a Tuesday, Sept. 29 clip posted to Instagram, the Laughing Cow has seemingly stopped laughing because trivial, everyday disagreements like whether throw pillows are essential or absurd continue to drive a "wedge" between us.

"After one hundred years, the Laughing Cow stopped laughing," the narrator says in the clip. "Why? Well, people are taking every little thing so seriously. All these wedge issues dividing us. Letting petty arguments get in the way, so she stopped laughing because she believes a wedge is for sharing. Not fighting over."

According to Bel Brands USA, Kimmel and Rodriguez officially passed the baton on to the country, kicking off a nationwide challenge to make the Laughing Cow laugh again.
