Mom Luang Krisda Kasemsan, president of the Ice Hockey Association of Thailand, welcomed Roman Rotenberg, vice president of the Russian Ice Hockey Federation and head coach of Russia’s national team, who came to discuss the development of ice hockey between the two countries, focusing on laying foundations and enhancing Thai youth athletes.
During the talks, both sides exchanged views on youth athlete development and shared Russian coaching knowledge and training models according to their standards. Additionally, the Russian national team held ice hockey clinics to pass on skills and experience to Thai youth players, and participated in friendly matches to foster goodwill between the two nations.
Mom Luang Krisda Kasemsan said it was a positive sign that Thai youth athletes had the opportunity to train and learn from Russia’s national team, one of the world’s ice hockey powerhouses. This event offered Thai children valuable real-world experience and insight into Russian athlete development methods to improve their own skills.
A key outcome of the meeting was establishing a framework to support and promote youth ice hockey development in Thailand through bilateral cooperation, including exchanging coaching knowledge, training techniques, and athlete development approaches across age groups.
This cooperation marks an important step forward for Thai ice hockey, opening opportunities for youth to learn from a leading global nation and build on this experience to further develop Thai athletes in the future.
