Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Saturday (October 3, 2026) directed all departments of the State government concerned to prepare a comprehensive online safety framework for children in consultation with the High Court and State Legal Services Authority (SLSA).
“My government is committed in giving full support to SLSA so that they would take the good work to every district and village,” the Chief Minister said delivering inaugural address at the south zone regional conference on ‘Enhancing Access to Justice for Children in Cyber Space’ in Hyderabad. The Chief Minister said parents must be involved in enhancing cyber safety of children.
“Parents must be part of the dialogue. Every child and parent should know 1930 (cybercrime helpline) and 1098 (child helpline),” Mr. Reddy said. He suggested to parents to speak to their respective children to find out what the latter were doing on internet.
“Be curious, not judgemental. Remember they are our children. They need our support, guidance, love and understanding. Let us all work to protect children,” the Chief Minister told parents.
The Union Minister of State for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal said that a continuous legal support system should be provided for prevention of children from falling prey to cyber offenders to their rehabilitation.
Citing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s observation that language of justice should be in such a fashion that those seeking it should be able to understand, the Minister said that children should be convinced not to feel guilty over becoming cyber crime victims. But their confidence should be enhanced to come forward to lodge complaints about cyber bullying or becoming victims of cyber offenders.
The two-day conference with focus on ‘preventing online sexual exploitation and strengthening child-friendly justice and protection’ and the theme ‘prevent, protect, investigate, provide legal aid and rehabilitation’ was convened jointly by the National Legal Services Authority (NLSA) and the Telangana State Legal Services Authority.
Supreme Court Justices Vikram Nath (NLSA executive chairman), P.S. Narasimha, R. Mahadevan and Alok Aradhe, Telangana High Court Chief Justice and Supreme Court judge designate Aparesh Kumar Singh and High Court judge (TSLSA executive chairman) P. Sam Koshy were present.
