Technical problems interrupt electricity supply to Central Substation - EWN

Johannesburg City Power said technical problems at Karzene Substation have interrupted electricity to Central Substation, affecting areas that had power restored on Saturday night.

According to the utility, repairs at Central Substation are continuing, with teams working on cables, equipment checks and several damaged supply lines.

It said restoration will happen progressively once incoming supply is restored and safety checks are completed.

Spokesperson Isaac Mangena said Monday’s restoration target remains unchanged and urges residents not to visit the restricted substation site or block access roads.

“Work remains on several supply lines, including Commissioner Street, Selby Street, Carlton Centre. We understand the continued inconvenience and frustration and we thank the customers for their patience. We will provide further updates as work progresses.”
