Taj Mahal photographer calls out men staring at foreign tourist, tells them to move

A foreign tourist at the Taj Mahal was trying to get a few photographs when a group of men gathered around her and began staring. A photographer filming the moment stepped in, asked them to move away and told them to let the woman enjoy her visit without making her uncomfortable.

The incident was captured in a video shared on Instagram by @official_tajmahal.photography. It has since crossed 3.9 million views.

The video showed the tourist posing for photographs while a few men stood nearby, watching her. The photographer, who appeared to be taking her pictures, noticed the situation and confronted the men.

“Ha bhai? Koi kaam waam hai? Yaha kya kar rahe ho? Ye tourist pareshaan nahi hogi? Kyu khade ho dekhne ke liye? Mana kar raha hu jaa apna kaam kar. Taj Mahal dekhne aya hai toh Taj Mahal dekh, khada hoke inko awkward kyu kar raha hai (Hey, do you have some work to do? What are you doing here? Won’t this tourist feel uncomfortable? Why are you standing here just to stare at her? I’m telling you to leave and mind your own business. You’ve come to see the Taj Mahal, so look at the Taj Mahal. Why are you standing here and making her feel awkward?)” he said.

The photographer then shooed the men away, clearing some space around the tourist as she continued posing for her photographs.

The video has prompted a discussion on social media about personal space and how tourists, particularly women, can be made uncomfortable when strangers gather around them.

Several viewers praised the photographer for intervening instead of simply ignoring the situation. Some thanked him for confronting the men and giving the tourist some breathing room.

The moment also struck a nerve with viewers who said visiting a popular monument should not mean having to deal with unwanted attention from strangers.
