Suspect linked to Sydenham’s 2021 mass killings due in court - EWN

The suspect linked to the 2021 mass killings in Sydenham is expected to appear in the Durban Magistrates Court on Friday on multiple counts of murder.

KwaZulu-Natal police said that the suspect was arrested near Empangeni on Wednesday evening after being on the run for five years.

On 16 October 2021, gunmen entered a house in the Palmiet Road informal settlement and opened fire on the occupants.

Six people were killed in the incident, among them were two minors.

On the same day, in a separate incident, three others were killed in the area.

Police believe the suspects are linked to the incidents.

One of the two suspects identified was killed during a police shootout.
