A Singaporean has died on Sep. 17 while climbing Mount Manaslu in Nepal.

Lau Wee Seng, 50, died at around 6,000m while descending from Camp II during an acclimatisation rotation, The Himalayan Times reported.

He reportedly felt uncomfortable while descending and passed away while resting.

Lau's family has been informed, with a helicopter mobilised to bring his body to Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal.

Lau was apparently travelling with 8K Expeditions.

The cause of death has not been confirmed, though it was reported that initial assessment indicates he may have suffered a heart attack.

Meanwhile, an avalanche had disrupted rope-fixing work above Camp III on the morning of Sep. 16, The Himalayan Times reported.
