Shafi Jan rejects Naqvi's PTI protest warnings

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information and Science & Information Technology Shafi Jan on Monday strongly reacted to Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi's press conference, urging him not to turn the funerals of martyrs into a subject of political rhetoric. "Using the funerals of martyrs for political point-scoring is highly regrettable," Shafi Jan said. The provincial minister claimed that the continuous press conferences by federal ministers made it clear they were severely frightened of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's protest and long march scheduled for September 27. "When the federal minister talks about the law, he should also remember the fundamental rights of the people guaranteed in the Constitution," he added. Shafi Jan said the federal government must also answer questions regarding the deprivation of Imran Khan's basic constitutional and legal rights, the ban on meetings with him, and the non-implementation of court orders. Referring to Naqvi's statement that a permanent strategy would be devised to deal with PTI, the K-P minister asked why the same permanent strategy had not been formulated for the stability of the national economy. "Mohsin Naqvi may have forgotten that the damage to the national economy is not because of PTI but due to the poor policies of their so-called experienced economic team," he said.
