Simultaneously, authorities obtained search warrants for four locations in Bangkok and Pathum Thani, yielding the following results.
Background: Several victims and donors reported to investigators at ECSD's Division 4 that they were solicited via social media to donate to help flood victims and the needy. However, suspicions arose that donations were not used as intended, prompting a police investigation.
Investigations found suspects exploited their public profiles and charitable image by posting on Facebook pages to solicit donations into personal and foundation bank accounts, using account names that gave the impression of official charity accounts, deceiving the public into donating large sums.
Donations totaled over 800 million baht—more than 600 million baht in personal accounts and over 200 million baht in foundation accounts—collected from the public who trusted the cause.
However, after receiving donations, funds were transferred from the donation accounts into personal accounts of the suspects and close associates.
Further checks revealed funds were used for personal expenses such as credit card debt, luxury brand purchases, and mutual funds. Money laundering occurred through construction contracts for luxury pool villas in Phuket and Pathum Thani, with funds cycled back into their own accounts. Additionally, donations were used to buy land in multiple provinces. The foundation never submitted required annual financial reports to the registrar, indicating fraudulent intent to misuse public donations for personal gain.
During initial questioning at arrest and investigation stages, suspects denied all allegations. Police will compile evidence, financial transaction documents, and seized items to proceed fairly. The suspects and evidence have been handed to investigators at ECSD Division 4 for legal action. Coordination with the Anti-Money Laundering Office is ongoing under relevant laws, and the Ministry of Interior has been contacted to review the foundation’s operations further.
