School student injured in Idukki

A Class XII student sustained serious injuries while playing with friends on school ground in Idukki on Tuesday evening.

​According to the police, the victim has been identified as Sharan, a Plus Two student at Government Higher Secondary School, Kumily, and a native of Anavilasam.

​Initial statements from his friends indicate that the incident occurred while they were gathered at the school ground to play football. During the game, one of the students allegedly swung an iron rod, which accidentally hit Sharan on the head.

​He suffered a serious head injury and was initially admitted to a nearby private hospital before being shifted to a hospital at Pala in Kottayam for advanced medical care. His condition remains critical.

​The Kumily police have taken three students who were present at the scene into custody for questioning. While preliminary investigations suggest that the injury was accidental, forensic and fingerprint experts visited the site to gather evidence. The police said that an investigation is under way to determine whether there was any foul play or conspiracy involved.
