SC welcomes fair criticism amid VP Sara's distrust of justice system - GMA Network

The Supreme Court (SC) responded to Vice President Sara Duterte’s remarks expressing distrust of the justice system, saying that it welcomed fair criticisms but needed evidence to act on.

In a 24 Oras report on Wednesday, SC spokesperson Camille Ting said that the decision-making of the courts was based on evidence.

“In my previous statement issued lately, we said naman the Court invites fair criticism as long as it’s… I mean we shouldn’t be very sensitive about the criticisms from the public, but then any action from the court will need evidence,” Ting said.

Duterte aired her frustration about the country’s justice system when sheposted bail at the Quezon City Hall of Justice for her three counts of grave threats against President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, and former House speaker Martin Romualdez.

“I do not feel safe, I really do not feel safe. I don’t trust the court, I don’t trust the police,” Duterte told her lawyers and surrounding reporters.

Duterte posted bail of P360,000 and was able to walk free afterwards. —Jean Mangaluz/RF, GMA News
