2026 has been a year of inconsistency and just all-around offensive dysfunction for the New Orleans Saints, as second-year head coach Kellen Moore does what he can to keep this team afloat to no avail. Moore’s biggest calling card was his strength as a play-caller, and the offensive structure he had built with the Super Bowl-champion Philadelphia Eagles.

However, that has not held up this season, and it is now at the point where his schematic builds are comparable to that of the Dennis Allen era in New Orleans.

From 2022 through 2024, the Dennis Allen and Darren Rizzi-led Saints teams, the team would post a 21-30 record, sitting at a 0.412 win rate. In this span, the offense averaged almost 21 points per game, while allowing the exact same amount on average (net score of 0 on the dot).

Since Moore took over at the start of 2025, the Saints have put up an 8-16 record (0.333 win rate), with the offense currently averaging 19.5 points per game in that period of time, while allowing 24 points per game. In totality, their net score in those 24 games under Moore comes out to a dismal -109, sitting at -77 last season and -32 this year.

For a team that hired an offense-first head coach who calls plays, spent approximately $113-million between David Edwards and Travis Etienne Jr. to bring them in on multi-year deals, and has used nine selections in the NFL Draft on offense since Moore's hiring, it feels as though the offense should not be worse than it was under Pete Carmichael and Klint Kubiak with Derek Carr, Spencer Rattler, Andy Dalton, and Jameis Winston at quarterback, led by a defensive-minded head coach, in prior years. Yet it is, by around a full point a game for that matter.

We will see how things are handled down the stretch in 2026, and if Moore can get this offense going the right direction, but right now, things are looking grim.
