Rameshwar Tiwari's son, Vikas Tiwari, alleged that his father had approached the police station around three months ago, expressing apprehension that his life was in danger from the people involved in the dispute.

Vikas alleged that no action was taken on the complaint. He said that had action been taken, the incident could have been prevented.

When the DIG was asked about the family's allegation, he said the matter would also be investigated and that those found responsible would not be spared.FOUR POLICE PERSONNEL SUSPENDED

Following the murder, the Lar police station in-charge and three other police personnel were suspended with immediate effect.

DIG S Channappa said five police teams were working to trace and arrest those accused in the case.

The murder has also cast a shadow over the family of Rameshwar Tiwari's son, Vikas, whose marriage had been fixed for February.

Shivansh Dubey, the brother of the woman Vikas was set to marry, had travelled from Siddharthnagar to the spot after the murder. He said the family had received threats that not only Rameshwar Tiwari but also his son could be killed.

Shivansh said the situation had made him question how his sister could be married into the family there.

He also demanded justice for the family and said the body would not be cremated until they received a written assurance on when justice would be delivered. He said they would wait even if the body had to remain uncremated for a long time.

Rameshwar Tiwari's daughter also said the family had suffered previous tragedies, claiming that her grandfather had been murdered years ago and that their tractor driver was also killed years ago. She alleged that her father's killing was the latest incident in which the family had been targeted over alleged dominance.- EndsWith inputs from Ram Pratap Singh
