The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has announced that it will begin a nationwide protest from October 2 if Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar does not resign within 24 hours.

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has announced that it will begin a nationwide protest from October 2 if Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar does not resign within 24 hours.

CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke said on X that protest would begin in Mumbai on October 2 and subsequently spread to cities across India if Kumar does not step down by the deadline.

The announcement came a day after the youth-led outfit demanded Kumar’s resignation for allegedly “undermining” voter rights and warned of a nationwide agitation, including a proposed “Jantar Mantar 2.0”, if he did not step down within 48 hours.

The CJP has launched what it calls the “Election Commission Thik Karo” campaign, focusing on the exclusion of more than 13 crore names from draft electoral rolls across 30 states and Union territories during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise.

At a press conference, Dipke, flanked by CJP co-convener Saurav Das and spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka, alleged that the electoral process had been “rigged” and that citizens’ right to vote was being taken away.

“If Gyanesh Kumar does not resign within 48 hours, we will start a nationwide protest, before coming for a protest in Delhi,” Dipke had said. He added that if the CEC did not resign, “Jantar Mantar 2.0 will definitely happen”.

The CJP said it would launch a nationwide agitation followed by an indefinite sit-in in Delhi if Kumar did not resign.- Ends
