Reps. Lawler and Gottheimer Speak on Fed Rate Decision, AI Bill

Reps. Mike Lawler (R-NY) and Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ) say they would not have raised interest rates and discuss the impact of higher rates and inflation on consumers. Rep. Lawler says the Fed’s decision demonstrated its independence and discusses President Trump’s proposed $5,000 dividend and questions over how it would be paid for. Rep. Gottheimer says higher rates will hurt consumers through credit-card bills, housing payments and other costs.
