About 720 families in flood-hit villages of Burja mandal in Srikakulam district have received rice and essential goods, and the damaged causeway near Allina has been repaired, as normalcy slowly returns to the area. Floods had damaged crops on over 3,000 acres in the mandal.
Amadalavalasa MLA Kuna Ravikumar and MARKFED Director Anepu Ramakrishna Naidu on Thursday (October 1, 2026) night distributed rice and other essential goods to the families in Allina, Kilantri, Narayanapuram, Neeladevapuram and other villages. Every affected family was given a 25-kg bag of rice, red gram, sugar, edible oil and vegetables.
“We requested the government to provide input subsidy quickly so that the farmers would overcome their financial hurdles to some extent,” Mr. Ramakrishna Naidu told The Hindu over telephone on Friday.

The causeway near Allina, on which hundreds of families depend, had been damaged in the floods. On the directions of Collector Swapnil Dinakar Pundkar, the Panchayat Raj Department and other departments concerned restored the road network in the village.
Villagers welcomed the quick repairs after the floodwater receded. The administration had also completed the enumeration of crop damage, Mr. Ramakrishna Naidu said.
