Rani Mukerji's mother Krishna Mukerji dies at 75

Actor Rani Mukerji’s mother, Krishna Mukerji, died at the age of 75 on Tuesday. Yash Raj Films confirmed the news in a statement on Tuesday, September 22. The family has requested privacy as they grieve the loss. Her cause of death has not been disclosed yet.

The statement from YRF read, “With heavy hearts, we share that Rani Mukerji's mother Mrs Krishna Mukerji, 75, passed away this afternoon. The family is deeply grateful for your love, prayers, and support, and respectfully requests privacy during this time of immense grief.”

Krishna Mukerji was a familiar presence around Rani and her family and had been seen accompanying the actor at several public events over the years.

Rani has often spoken about her close bond with her mother. Krishna Mukerji was also associated with the Bengali film industry and had worked as a playback singer.

Rani who has been associated with popular films like Ghulam, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Saathiya, Hum Tum and Black, was last seen in Mardaani 3, which released in 2026.
