Rams lose thriller to Broncos, 30-26: Instant analysis of Week 3 loss - Rams Wire
The Los Angeles Rams faced their first true road game on Sunday night, traveling to the Mile High City to take on the Denver Broncos at Empower Field. They scored a touchdown midway through the second quarter to cut the Rams' lead in half, making the score 16-8 after the two-point conversion. A costly penalty by Emmanuel Forbes Jr. on punt coverage gave the Broncos great field position late in the third quarter, which led to a touchdown and successful two-point conversion to tie the game at 16.
The Rams took back the lead after a Josh Wallace interception, which set up a 48-yard field goal attempt by Harrison Mevis. He knocked it right down the middle for his fourth field goal of the night, putting the Rams up 19-16.
And then the chaos ensued. With under 5 minutes left in the fourth quarter, Matthew Stafford threw a pick-six to Talanoa Hufanga to put the Broncos up 23-16. A minute and 10 seconds later, Stafford hit Konata Mumpfield for a 48-yard touchdown to put the Rams back on top, 26-23.
The Broncos struck quickly with 39- and 21-yard passes on the next drive, moving down the field in a hurry to get into scoring range. After a very controversial penalty on Wallace, Bo Nix wound up sneaking into the end zone for another go-ahead touchdown with 47 seconds left.
The Rams got the ball all the way down to the Broncos' 14-yard line with 2 seconds left but Stafford's final pass was intercepted in the end zone to end the game. Los Angeles falls to 1-2 on the year, with the Eagles up next.

The Rams will fly back to Los Angeles before jumping back on the plane next week for a cross-country flight to Philadelphia. They'll face the Eagles in Week 4, an early 1 p.m. ET kickoff next Sunday. The Eagles will be on a semi-short week after playing against the Bears on Monday night.
