Rains damage wall near PAF's Nur Khan Base

Heavy monsoon rains have damaged around 250 feet of the security wall of the Airport Security Force (ASF) garrison adjoining PAF Base Nur Khan and the old airport. The ASF garrison administration has deployed additional personnel to secure the affected section and sought assistance from Rawalpindi Police to strengthen security along its outer perimeter. ASF Director and CSO North Airports Sher Muhammad Khan has written to the Rawalpindi CPO, Deputy Commissioner and other relevant authorities, informing them that the recent heavy rains damaged a section of the garrison's boundary wall along Band Khanna Road. Parts of the wall have collapsed, creating a temporary gap in the outer security perimeter. The ASF garrison houses the Director General ASF's camp office, CSO North office, residential blocks, GOQs and the ASF Public School. It is also adjacent to PAF Base Nur Khan and the old airport. Following the damage, the ASF took immediate measures to strengthen security from inside the affected section and deployed additional personnel, including a Quick Response Force (QRF), to ensure a prompt response in case of an emergency. However, the damaged and partially collapsed wall along Band Khanna Road has raised concerns about security on the outer side. ASF officials said the affected section needed to be protected through additional personnel and effective surveillance until the permanent wall was restored. The ASF has requested the police to establish round-the-clock pickets outside the affected section and increase patrolling, particularly at night. The relevant police station, SDPO and patrol teams have also been asked to maintain close coordination with ASF security personnel to ensure prompt sharing of information about any suspicious movement or unusual activity and take timely action when required. A senior officer said efforts were under way to further strengthen security measures on both the inner and outer sides of the garrison until the wall was permanently restored. The affected section and overall security situation were also being monitored continuously.
