Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced in the Pan - IIT Andhra Pradesh Summit here on Saturday that the quantum computing operations would commence in Amaravati, starting February 3, 2027 in collaboration with IBM, TCS, and L&T.
This marks the evolution of Andhra Pradesh as a producer and exporter of quantum hardware systems from being a mere consumer, Mr. Naidu said.
He stated that ‘Pan - IIT World Council’ would be formed in Amaravati to guide curriculum reforms, foster startups and mentorship and support the State’s goal to become a global knowledge hub.
It would be the world’s largest network of academics, he observed, and declared the creation of a ₹500 crore venture fund corpus for the promotion of deep-tech startup companies in the State.
In his key note address at the event, Mr. Naidu said the 23 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) have produced some of the world’s most brilliant minds and the A.P. government was happy to work with them in diverse fields and exhorted them to help in realising the Swarna Andhra Vision.
He noted that even before the arrival of the 156-qubit quantum system, quantum testbeds started functioning in Amaravati, and mini quantum test labs like Q-Shiva (comprising five quantum computers, which was inaugurated at the event) have also become accessible. IIT-style labs must be established in local educational institutions.
Mr. Naidu said steps were taken to set up a Sovereign AI Stack and cited the 18% GST revenue increase achieved through adoption of AI as an example of the potential of the AI and related technologies.
The government intended to promote entrepreneurial skills in students from the high school level with the assistance of the Pan - IIT Council.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi set a target to prepare 1 crore (10 million) AI professionals at the national level. In line with his goal, the A.P. government has targeted supplying 50 lakh AI professionals through the State, he said.
The Pan-IIT AP organised by PanIIT Alumni India brought together IIT leaders, policymakers, industry leaders, entrepreneurs, investors, academicians, technology experts and innovators to chart a long-term technology and innovation roadmap for A.P.
Some other announcements made at the event include the creation of a Global IIT Mentor Network, IIT Technology Transfer Pipeline and a DeepTech Policy Package.
Pan-IIT Alumni India chairman Prabhat Kumar, vice-chairman Amitabh Ranjan, Pan-IIT AP Summit chair Swadeep Pillarisetti, secretary of ITE&S Department of GoAP Katamneni Bhaskar and a host of other dignitaries took part in the programme.
