Electricity consumers in several areas have complained that teams of the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) are visiting homes for bill recovery and warning that the supply could be disconnected if they did not pay immediately.
According to a resident,
officials had told him that the policy regarding recovery and disconnection had changed and they had been instructed by senior officers to recover the dues.
A consumer said the previous practice was to sever a connection after two unpaid monthly bills.
Speaking to The Express Tribune, a LESCO spokesperson said there could be errors in meter readings or billing data, but ruled out the possibility that the company had deliberately sent inflated bills to all consumers.
"If consumers have some complaints against their bills, they should visit their relevant LESCO office for bill correction before the due date," the spokesperson said.
