Poland plans to provide Patriot missiles to Ukraine: Report - Anadolu Ajansı

Poland plans to provide Ukraine with several PAC-3 interceptor missiles for US-made Patriot air defense systems as part of a new military aid package, Polish broadcaster TVP reported Wednesday.

The planned package is expected to be worth about €50 million ($58 million) and focus largely on air defense capabilities, according to Ukraine's Defense Ministry.

Poland's Defense Ministry has confirmed that a new military support package is being prepared but has not disclosed the equipment it will contain, citing official secrecy.

The ministry told daily Rzeczpospolita that the package would include equipment being withdrawn from service by the Polish Armed Forces because its service life is expiring.

The equipment would no longer be used by Poland but could still be useful to Ukraine, the ministry said.

PAC-3 interceptors for Poland's Patriot systems are among the equipment being considered for transfer, according to sources familiar with the preparations.

Poland's operational commander, Maj. Gen. Ireneusz Nowak, said he supported providing Ukraine with Patriot ammunition but indicated that the number of missiles would be limited.

“No one is talking about mass donations,” he said.

Poland provided Ukraine with five PAC-3 missiles in July.

Ukraine has repeatedly asked its allies for additional air defense munitions as it seeks to replenish its stocks amid continued Russian missile and drone attacks.

Kyiv has specifically emphasized the need for PAC-3 interceptors ahead of an expected Russian winter campaign targeting civilian and energy infrastructure.

Polish Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz said in July that Poland had provided Ukraine with about €3.8 billion ($4.4 billion) in military aid.
