PNP honors cop wounded during BARMM elections

(Photo from PRO-BAR) COTABATO CITY – The Philippine National Police (PNP) commended and rewarded with cash assistance a police officer who was wounded while performing poll duties during the historic Bangsamoro elections last Monday.

Lt. Gen. Wilson Joseph Lopez, PNP deputy chief for operations, visited Patrolman Justeen Reo Ga at the Notre Dame Hospital here on Tuesday and assured him of government financial support.

Ga, who is assigned at the Dinagat Islands Police Provincial Office, was among four people injured in the attack by armed men inside the Cotabato City Central Pilot Elementary School during the early hours of the Bangsamoro parliamentary elections. There was one fatality.

“The incident underscored the risks faced by police personnel on the front lines of election security as they carry out their duty to protect voters, election workers, and the integrity of the electoral process,” Lopez said.

He handed over financial support to the wounded police officer and assured that his welfare, morale, and proper medical care will remain a priority./coa
