'PBB Collab 3.0': Calix kisses Gehlee's hand during screen test, starts conversation about consent - GMA Network
Calix Esguerra and Gehlee Dangca’s screen test on “Pinoy Big Brother: Collab Edition 3.0” has started a conversation about consent.
The two housemates took part in a screen test for a romantic vertical drama as part of their weekly task. In the scene, Calix gets carried away and kisses Gehlee’s hand.
“Don’t kiss me, my handler will kill me,” Gehlee told Calix in Filipino following their scene.
The housemates then talked about what happened. Jeo Ong said that Calix was probably just in character, while Ethan Benares said he crossed a boundary.
Primo Alterado then asked Gehlee how she was, who said, “He should have asked.”
“I understand that he got carried away. It’s fine, it means he’s in character. I just think it would have been better if he didn’t do that,” Gehlee said later in the Confession Room.
“I don’t hate him for it, I just wish he didn’t do that because he didn’t ask me,” she added.
The next morning, the boys talked to Calix about what happened and reminded him that he needs to ask permission from his co-actor.
In the Confession Room, Kuya also reminded Calix about the importance of consent. The two were brought together to speak privately, and Calix was able to apologize to Gehlee.
“I really didn’t mean it, I didn’t do it on purpose. Like, I was just there in the role, I just wanted to show the housemates, so we can be chosen and that were number one. My real mistake was that I didn’t ask permission and boundaries,” Calix said.
Calix added that he knows what he did was off-script, that he had no bad intentions, and that he won’t do it again.
“After that, I was super embarrassed I did that, because I know that you’re also not used to that. And I’m truly sorry because I was so into the role that I wanted to make the housemates giddy,” Calix said.
Gehlee told Calix, “I just wish you asked me, I was shocked.”
However, she eventually forgave Calix.
“It’s okay, I’m just happy that you’re aware,” she said. “You were aware of what you did wrong and you said you wouldn’t do it again. You know that you were supposed to ask now. It’s okay, I understand that you were under pressure, you got carried away. I forgive you.”
Kuya then called the girls and guys separately, and reminded them about boundaries and respect.
“Inside my house, respect and safety of one another should always be prioritized,” Kuya said.
"PBB: Collab 3.0" premiered on Saturday. Sixteen housemates, composed of celebrity personalities, social media stars, and ordinary netizens entered the new PBB house.
The reality series airs on GMA Network from Mondays to Fridays at 9:35 p.m., Saturdays at 6:15 p.m., and Sundays at 4:45 p.m. —Nika Roque/JCB, GMA News
