Patriots found their new identity in one epic Mike Vrabel message - Patriots Wire
The New England Patriots' 2025 season was defined by one phrase that was repeated every week: “We all we got, we all we need.”
It was the team's main identity, signifying the chemistry and trust that they built, while also highlighting the underdog mentality that New England thrived on and which led them to Santa Clara in February.
But it's a new year and after a few struggling weeks, Mike Vrabel might have handed the Patriots their new mentality and identity this season, dropping an all-time line when addressing his team in the locker room following their 29-26 win over the Bills.
"All week, when I tell you guys that you guys are the answer. That we're back in the [expletive] race, you are the answer," Vrabel began. "I couldn't be more proud to be your [expletive] coach. To compete, to fight.
"We are gonna fight until they cut our [expletive] hands off, okay? I promise you. Until they [expletive] chop them off, we're going to [expletive] fight, and we're going to [expletive] swing."
There's a reason why Vrabel is the right coach for this group; it's because he gets it. He's been in their shoes. He's experienced the highest of highs, but also the lowest of lows. And he's also heard it all, whether it's been high praise or doubt. And that's exactly what the Patriots were facing, with the outside talk centering around whether New England was a one-hit wonder and if Drake Maye wasn't going to get back to his MVP-caliber season.
But Vrabel never doubted anyone in that locker room. And even when they lost key players to injury, being forced to play the Bills without two top defenders, others stepped up, and he knew they could take on one of the top teams in the league.
It was even apparent in each of the players he handed out a game ball to. Efton Chism is a player who fought his way onto the roster and has carved out a role for himself, taking advantage of each and every opportunity, keeping his head down and working. Craig Woodson suffered an injury that sidelined him in the loss to the Jaguars, but this week he came out and picked off Josh Allen to solidify the victory. And then there's Romeo Doubs and Drake Maye, both of whom have received a lot of criticism for their performances through the first three weeks, but they never got down on themselves and continued to work.
Last season, “We all we got, we all we need” worked because it captured the belief that New England didn't need anyone outside of that locker room. But this year, they need something slightly different, serving as more of a reminder that no matter what is thrown at them, they're not going anywhere. They're going to fight through injuries, adversity, criticism and whatever else comes their way.
And after Sunday, it feels like they have their answer: fight until they cut off our hands.
