Patrick Clancy and his new wife are speaking out in their first interview since a mistrial was declared in the case against his ex-wife Lindsay Clancy for the killings of their three children.

The couple, Patrick Clancy and Dr. Rachel Danis, will appear on "60 Minutes" on Sunday, Sept. 20, weeks after the high-profile trial ended without a verdict.

Lindsay, 36, was facing murder charges in the 2023 deaths of her and Patrick's three children: Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months. A Massachusetts jury failed to reach a unanimous verdict in the case, and Judge William Sullivan declared a mistrial on Sept. 4. Prosecutors have not said whether they will retry the case.

Her attorney did not dispute that Lindsay strangled the three children at their Duxbury, Massachusetts, home in January 2023. However, he argued she is not guilty by lack of criminal responsibility – also known as an insanity defense – because she was suffering from postpartum psychosis.

Prosecutors, on the other hand, alleged the former labor and delivery nurse deliberately and cruelly murdered the children.

The case drew widespread public attention to postpartum and maternal mental health issues. It also generated elaborate, often unfounded social media theories from the true crime obsessed.

In a clip released ahead of the full interview, Danis called her husband "the most selfless father and supportive partner."

"I don't understand how the story has been so twisted," she said.

She also revealed how the couple met.

"I was just a girl that met a guy running in Central Park on a really cold Saturday," Danis said. "And I don't think there's anything wrong with that."

It's unclear when they married. Lindsay's attorney first publicly revealed in July that Patrick remarried, saying in court that he is "trying to move on."

It has also not been publicly revealed when Patrick and Lindsay, who married in December 2016, officially divorced. He declined to comment on the status of the couple's marriage when interviewed by The New Yorker in 2024.

In another clip released ahead of the "60 Minutes" airing, Patrick Clancy said he talks to his three deceased children "all the time."

"What do you say?" correspondent Ross Douthat asked.

Dr. Rachel Danis, Patrick Clancy's new wife, is a reproductive endocrinologist in New York City, according to online bios.

A 2014 graduate of Drexel University School of Medicine, she specializes in endometriosis, infertility, ovulation induction and LGBTQ family building.

Danis completed her training at Hahnemann University Hospital and Keck Hospital of USC and is board certified in obstetrics & gynecology and reproductive endocrinology/infertility, according to her bio on Castle Connolly.

Patrick Clancy and Rachel Danis' interview on "60 Minutes" will air on Sunday, Sept. 20, at 7 p.m. ET.

According to a description on 60 Minutes' YouTube channel, the interview will be centered on Patrick's "grief, his memories of his children, and the baseless conspiracy theories that flooded social media since his ex-wife's murder trial."

"60 Minutes" airs on CBS and can be streamed on Paramount+.

Paramount+ has monthly or annual subscription plans to choose from, starting at $8.99 per month for an ad-supported plan and $13.99 per month for an ad-free plan.
