Packers sign former Colts draft pick, former Jets WR to practice squad - Packers Wire

The Green Bay Packers are using two of their open practice squad spots to add a former draft pick of the Indianapolis Colts along the defensive line and a former New York Jets wide receiver.

According to Bill Huber of Packers on SI, the Packers are signing defensive lineman Eric Johnson and wide receiver Quincey Skinner Jr. to the practice squad.

The Packers had three openings on the practice squad after signing Bo Melton to the 53-man roster and releasing long snapper Scott Daly and wide receiver Chris Hilton Jr. over the last two days.

Johnson, a fifth-round pick of the Colts in the 2022 draft, has played in 51 career games, including 12 last season with the Colts. He has been on the field for 700 snaps on defense and another 132 on special teams over his four-year career. PFF has credited Johnson with 10 pressures and 10 stops, although his grades have been poor during each of his four seasons.

After the Packers lost Nazir Stackhouse on waivers and Jaden Crumedy off the practice squad to the 53-man roster of the Houston Texans, so adding a defensive lineman to the practice squad became necessary, even with seven defensive linemen on the 53-man roster. Johnson was a pre-draft visitor to Green Bay before the 2022 draft.

At receiver, the Packers swapped out Hilton Jr. for Skinner Jr., who went undrafted in 2025 before signing with the Atlanta Falcons. He joined the Jets in July of this year and spent training camp with the team, but he was released during final cuts on Aug. 30. Over three seasons at Vanderbilt, Skinner caught 66 passes for 809 yards and eight touchdowns.

The Packers play the Jets on Sunday, so it's possible Skinner might be able to provide some inside information on New York's offense before Week 2.

Skinner joins Isaiah Neyor as the two wide receivers on the practice squad.

The Packers still have one open practice squad spot to fill.
