More than 10,000 land titles have been made ready for distribution across Keralam as part of the State government’s 100-day action programme, more than twice the initial target of 5,000, Revenue Minister A.P. Anilkumar said on Friday (September 18).

Inaugurating the district-level Patta Mela here, the Minister said the initiative had benefited several families who had been waiting for decades to obtain legal titles for the land they occupied.

The government had initially set a target of distributing titles to 5,000 beneficiaries across the State under the 100-day programme. β€œMore than 10,000 titles have now been made ready for distribution,” the Minister said.

The Minister also said that over 35,000 applications seeking land conversion had been disposed of as part of the programme. The government’s position that disputes over land should not be allowed to remain unresolved had helped accelerate the distribution of land titles, he said.

He said steps would be expedited to issue land titles to people living in hilly and coastal regions.

As many as 1,845 land titles under various categories were distributed on the occasion.

T.O. Mohanan, MLA, who presided over the function, said several government offices in Kannur were functioning from rented buildings and urged the government to sanction an additional civil station to address the issue.

Mayor P. Indira, MLAs T.K. Govindan Master and P.K. Praveen, and officials attended the function.
