Olin Kreutz shelled out ultimate praise for Bears offense in Week 1 - Bears Wire
The Chicago Bears' offensive onslaught against the Carolina Panthers in Week 1 has turned a lot of heads, grabbing plenty of attention and headlines with their 59 point showing.
Chicago totaled 552 yards, including an incredible 291 rushing yards between D'Andre Swift, Kyle Monangai and Caleb Williams. Putting up the most points across the NFL on Sunday, the Bears set new expectations for how their offense could look this season and one former Bear believes the performance against Carolina was pure execution.
Legendary Bears center Olin Kreutz recently appeared on 104.3 The Score and discussed how the team's offensive performance on Sunday had nothing to do with luck and everything to with execution.
"There are things to correct, even when you drop 59 points on somebody," Kreutz said. "When you really go through the film, there wasn't a lot of luck involved. There was a lot of execution. Which is surprising for 59 points β you'd think there were takeaways and turnovers and huge plays and Carolina had a lot of mental mistakes. No, the Bears were beating them. The Bears were beating them with the run game, they were just doing things that the Chicago Bears do. It's one day, but with how good they played, you have to say, it wasn't luck. This offense is pretty damn good. When's the last time you felt this way about the Chicago Bears where you couldn't wait for next week?"
Chicago's offense on the surface appears as if it is going to be very fun to watch every week this season, if they can keep the standard consistent moving forward. It would be a lot more fun if they didn't allow 37 points to their opponent, so there is room to grow and improve on defense. But Ben Johnson's goal of having a record-breaking offense is off to a good start.
