OGDCL conquer Kingsmen Academy in President’s Trophy Grade-1

Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) romped to a nine-wicket win over Kingsmen Academy while the match between Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) and Markhor IT Solutions and that of PTV and State Bank of Pakistan ended in a draw at the President’s Trophy on Monday. Earlier on Sunday, Ghani whipped Sui Northern Gas Pipelines by an innings and 14 runs to go top of the table with 35 points from two matches. OGDCL’s win means they are now second with 31 points. OGDCL reached the 121-run target after resuming their second innings from overnight score of 85-1 in 23 overs against Kingsmen Academy. It took them 5.1 overs on day four to scale the target with opener Waqar Ahmed scoring  unbeaten 75 off 94 balls striking six fours and one six. He also shared a 116-run unbeaten stand with Umar Siddiq (40 not out, 74b, 7x4s). At Shoaib Akhtar Stadium in Rawalpindi, KRL resumed their first innings from overnight score of 423-5 in 133 overs and were bowled out on 490 in 158 overs. Faheem Ashraf converted his 28 not out from previous day to 69 off 135 balls hitting tne fours in total to register his 16th first-class half-century. MIT pacers Mohammad Imran Junior, Mohammad Ismail, Mohammad Nabeel and Samama Riaz toiled for 34, 32, 25 and 22 overs, respectively, accounting for seven wickets together as KRL managed a first innings lead of 170. In reply, MIT decided to bat out the remaining overs as they faced 50 overs for 167 runs losing nine wickets. Skipper Hasnain Nadeem (62, 103b, 8x4s) scored his maiden first-class fifty. KRL captain Iftikhar Ahmed employed his off-spin to bag third first-class five-for returning figures of 8-2-18-5. At Abbottabad Cricket Stadium, PTV were set an improbable target of 293 runs in 27 remaining overs in the day by SBP. The two teams shook hands when PTV were 64-1 in 12 overs with Waqar Hussain (26 not out, 31b, 4x4s) and Muhammad Shahzad (16 not out, 12b, 2x4s) unbeaten on the crease while Yasir Khan fell for 20 to Faham-ul-Haq. Earlier, SBP began the day from overnight score of 84-4 in 23 overs with only a 48-run second innings lead. PTV came in sensing their chances of a close win especially after Haris Rauf claimed SBP captain Muhammad Ghazi Ghori (58, 55b, 9x4s, 1x6) and Shahzad got rid of Rameez Aziz (41, 84b, 6x4s) with the score at 162-6 and a lead of 126 with four wickets left. At this juncture, Abid Ali (67, 157b, 8x4s) and Kashif Bhatti (64, 75b, 11x4) summoned their vast experience putting up a 110-run stand to take the game away from PTV. Sirajuddin was on 29 and Naqeebullah on 12 when SBP declared at 328-8 in 83 overs. Haris Rauf backed up his five wickets in the first match with four in the second as he sent down 32 overs across two innings against SBP. Amad Butt, Musa Khan, Shahzad, Sharoon Siraj and Mohammad Taha picked up one wicket each.
